Oh my god! This book is becoming torturous to complete. I do like my share of chick lit once in a while. But this one takes the cake. 3 women living almost 'Sex and the City' style, based in Australia. And it is written as though a 12 year girl would write a romance novel about the cute boy she has a crush on. Does it get any worse?

Some of the best women fiction writers I have come across over the past several years are out of Southeast Asia (or are Brits or Americans of SEA descent). They are writing more substantial stories and defititely of a woman's perspective:
Kiran Desai - "The Inheritance of Loss"
Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni -"Sister of My Heart" and "The Mistress of Spices"
Jhumpa Lahiri - "Interpreter of Maladies"
Heavier stuff, yes, but you won't get that junk food feeling you're currently suffering from!
